About Chris

Chris was born on August 12th, 1991 in the archipelago just outside Stockholm, Sweden. His musical abilities were first noticed in kindergarten where he played the piano for the first time. At the age of seven he started to compose his own music. He always liked the idea of creating something entirely his own, and have other people perform it. At the specialist music school Lilla Akademien (The Junior Academy, Stockholm), Chris began taking advanced piano and composition lessons. However, it was first at the age of sixteen that he started to take composition seriously. After seeing Pirates of the Caribbean, he realized this was the kind of sound world he wanted to create.

In 2009, Chris received a commission from the Swedish National Television (SVT) to write a 4-minute overture for wind orchestra performed by The Junior Academy. The performance was recorded and filmed January 31th 2010. Later that year, he received a commission from the Gothenburg Symphonic Wind Orchestra to write a 5-minute piece for their annual PROMS-concert, featuring famous Swedish artists such as Babben Larson, Peter Johansson and Anders Lundin.

After he graduated from high school, Chris chose to take The Junior Academy Pre-College Diploma course. Pre-College is an extra year, focusing on topics in musicology, music theory, critical thinking, performance studies, composition and conducting.

He is currently studying composition at UCLA with film music as his concentration, under successful composers and educators such as Bruce Broughton, Prof. Adam Schoenberg and Sean Friar. During his three years at UCLA, he have been hired by PAC-12 Networks to write music to one of their commercials that was aired on national television. Chris has also been hired by several UCLA graduate animators and directors to write music to their films. In March 2014, Chris was commissioned by Sollentuna Symphony Orchestra to write a 6-minute film-inspired piece to be performed at two concerts in Sweden in May.

Chris lives an active life. Over the years he has participated in many various team sports like Soccer, Hockey, Tennis, Skiing, Golf, Track and Field sports. When he decided that music is his priority, he quit the teams. Chris now content himself with exercise and golf.
